“Stay the course, cut and run, whatever. They all have risks,” retired Navy Adm. William Crowe Jr. said to an audience of about 100 at the Solebury School on Wednesday night.

“As to the terrorist threat, I think Osama bin Laden's people would be very disappointed if we leave,” Crowe said. “Instead of traveling a few hundred miles to hurt us, they'd have to travel a few thousand miles.”
Even if bin Laden and his men did come to the U.S., they wouldn't be able to overthrow the government because bin Laden doesn't have the wherewithal, he added.
Crowe said the nation's leaders need to focus on getting U.S. troops out of Iraq now. And before the country gets involved in future wars, it should restructure government to better handle them and create comprehensive plans for fighting.
“It may sound like overkill,” he said. “But it's a formula for long-term success.”
