"I mean, there's no one more incentivized than the Iraqis."

This is a quote from Dana Perino, the acting Press Secretary, speaking in yesterday's press briefing. We talk about the level of discourse, particularly on the Administration side, but did anyone realize it was actually this low? Making egregious points using stupid, made-up words? I mean, that's pathetic.

edit: misundespellimified a word!

1. hey that's a perfectly cromulent word
I was incentivized once. I guess it wasn't too bad but that tube got uncomfortable after a while.

8. Apparently Random House puts its origins in the
late 1960s. Essentially, "provide an incentive to".

Not a word I like--up there with "to impact" and "to repurpose"--but one I've heard often enough among college administrators and businessfolk over the last 20 years. Since usage determines what's correct in a language, in democratic (but apparently not Democratic) fashion I accept that the word exists.

But it offends your sensitive, conservative ears, substitute "motivate". It was coined a hundred years before "incentivize", so it must be ok.
