Someone please challenge that "so others could serve" crap.
Is this a schoolyard? Are we sharing toys? If you have a grade A effective lawyer involved in a case of political corruption, or years of investigation and motions and grand juries you do not remove said lawyer so someone new can play with the case. That CAN'T be a valid reason.

It's one of those Republican mantras that sounds so fair and reasonable and makes no sense whatsoever in context.

1. There's actually nothing there to challenge. It's complete nonsense.
Exactly as you say: "...sounds so fair and reasonable
and makes no sense whatsoever in context."

3. I know, that statement really killed me!
The Joan of Arc of the Bush administration. Stay tuned for this afternoon's testimony, the Senators has taken a measure of Sampson and I think, and hope, they will go after him.

4. Let's assume, just for the sake of argument, that the "so that others
could serve" sop was really the reason these USAs were let go. What? Is the Justice Department nothing more than a patronage mill now? So that the President can reward as many of their cronies with impresssive federal appointments? That's disgusting. It's bad enough that ambassadorships are patronage appointments. But the Justice Department!!!???

5. But it WAS done so that others could serve
Edited on Thu Mar-29-07 12:46 PM by truedelphi
The others in this case being people who would follow the Bush-Rove-Gonzo style of
totalitarian justice.

People who did not have the required ethics to insist that in their new appointments as USA attorneys that they would not mind political meddling. Taht they would not bother to remain pure and impartial and beyond the control of any political party.

I say, don't dispute this mantra, embrace it and clarify it!

9. Ding Ding Ding!!! It's no coincidence that those fired USAs
and Rove's list of swing states he ticked off to the Republican Lawyers Association for the 2008 election closely coincide with each other.

BTW, according to Andrea Mitchell (IIRC), Tim Griffen's "specialty" was opposition research. Nope! Nothing to see here...it's just giving him a chance. :/
