In the short term, he's either directly or indirectly employing hundreds of contractors who are building his mansion.

And in the future, there will be many jobs for maintenance, landscaping, and house cleaning at his mansion.

I'm more interested in learning what John Edwards will be paying for this help. Are they earning a living wage or will he be using cheap immigrant labor?

I think we should ask him.

1. Interesting point.
If he'd chosen to live in a quarter of the space, and still employed the same number of people, he could have had 7500 sq. ft, and that would have left 22,500 sq. feet of housing - easily enough for 22 families of homeless Katrina victims. That would still leave him over 7 times as much living space as them.

3. It doesn't take too many people to build a fine home..
Actually, the fewer the better.

But to answer your question..

You get what you pay for.

Whether it is paid in dollars or care..

4. A suggestion for J. Edwards
I think to accommodate your outrage, he should fire all his employees and burn down the house, while playing the fiddle on the front porch. Then, he should plant a large plot full of your favorite flowers along with a billboard apologizing for not building a homeless shelter out in the middle of nowhere. Otherwise you might leave your basement and actually start stalking him realtime.

Would that salve your obviously wounded sensibilities?

Dick Cheney's co-conspirators have stolen Trillions (with a T) of dollars from American taxpayers, most not even born yet, and you write multiple posts about Edward's property? Why not bash the Kennedy's? They have a large expensive property.

The beneficiary of your private culture war, Dick Cheney, has a pretty nice spread too, though I am given to understand that everyone who worked on it is now entombed in the sub basement, pending Dick's immanent journey to the afterworld.
