Over the past 30 years, defense spending and the resulting need for veteran's services has been the largest sector of federal govt spending in the fed's budget. Only to be surpassed recently with these bailouts.
When it comes to defense spending, there hasn't been a close second. Most, if not almost all of our $12+ trillion dollar national debt is attributed to defense spending over the past 30 years.
The result.
A war machine that has cannibalized our GDP and continues to do so. 700+ military bases internationally, and a nation mired in 2 un-winnable wars.
Does any other nation have its military scattered all over the fucking globe?
The solution starts with an embargo of Israel. And an end to Israeli influence in Washington. We attacked Iraq and Afghanistan at the behest of the Pro Israel lobby and they are pushing America to attack Iran.
No more financial or military aid for Israel. We have infuriated the Muslim world for long enough.
Aware of the size of this planets Muslim population? 1 Billion+ and they are rising up.
No American Army will ever defeat that.
After we threaten embargo, if that doesn't force Israel to the negotiating table then enact embargo.
Israel must stop expansionism, must remove it's presence from Gaza entirely, and it must tear down illegal settlements in Gaza and Palestine.
The Arab world will never accept peace until this happens. And the Arab world owns and imports most of our oil.
We need to close our bases internationally and bring ALL of our troops home. Then reduce our military by a minimum of 50%. Our military should defend our borders and ONLY our borders.
We're fully engaged in nation building in Iraq and Afghanistan, yet our nation is crumbling and in a state of free fall.
The sad fact about our war machine is it's inability to defend our borders.
9/11 and our porous borders prove that fact to this day.
WE ARE NOT GETTING OUR MONEYS WORTH!
I'm tired of watching the poor volunteer and sacrifice themselves to this senseless fucking slaughter. Dieing, getting maimed, and giving their sanity to fight a rich mans war.
I served in the Army from '91 to '95. I've been there. I know what I'm talking about.
I saw the mentality. That we were trained to be pawns for the wealthy corporate elite. As a soldier, you better fucking like it!
Fostering peace isn't just some hopeless liberal progressive pipe dream.
It's a necessity.
We can no longer afford our war machine. Neither with the lives of our brave troops or monetarily.
Proof- $12+ Trillion in debt that will explode. A mountain of war dead and permanently maimed casualties of war. Physically and mentally maimed. Homeless vets living under bridges. Committing suicide as they're left to relive the horrors of their exposure to war til they snap.
I'm no longer willing to sacrifice my loved ones to fight for the rich man.
What's happening in the Muslim world must be dealt with internationally, not unilatterally.
I still and always will choose peace.
Hope this answered you question.
Peace
