By a judicial use of faux gnus, faux reporters & journalists(remember those the WH paid for), faux GSA work, faux terra alerts (remember duct tape - the stuff that is great for everything but ducts?) and more, he stole re-election in 2004 and managed to confound, confuse, and confine the scandals that only now are poking their heads up. In fact, there are so may, they remind me of the perennials in my garden, forcing their way through the mud of early spring.
Because of all of the above, he earned four more years. As result, here is what Bush said: "I've got my mandate, and I'm gonna spend it."
Now, think about that for a bit. Let's assume that he mistakenly spoke the truth for once. Let's assume that he had a man-date, and one that did nto involve Jeff Gannon. That gave him freedom to act as he always wanted. You know. Like a petulant, spoiled, arrogant, and aggressive lazy fool who reads little or nothing, and is bored by the details of his current employment. Disengaged is being polite.
I think it is perfectly clear that he has spent it. Like a addict whoring or selling him/her-self for a fix, a cosmic federal drug store opened up and Bush wasted 20-25% of those folks he previously (and successfully) lied to for four years. Now, his support is about where his administration sits. In the toilet. Too bad that he has 2 more years.
one bit of good news, though. Today's senate vote; yesterday's Pelosi comment; Boxer's statement; Reid's actions, and many congresscritters' recognition of reality has finally made an impact. It seems, unlikely as it is, that the Congress of the United States is finally growing a spine. Yes, a SPINE. True, it still looks like jello, but it seems to be setting harder.
