I am really afraid that we will attack Iran
I have three friends in iraq...I really think this is inevitable. WHY WON'T THE DEMS STOP THIS IDIOT OR PASS A REOSLUTION BANNING AN ATTACK ON IRAN! IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN SOON! If he attacks Iran I don't know if I can continue support of the party. If we have all these links about the military build up around Iran, the Congress MUST know right? I hope Pelosi has somehting up her sleave..

15. They have phones and planes and faxes.
I'm sure they have a watch going on. They know bush is a complete FU.
But those 'training operations' there have also un-nerved me.
To close for comfort.

For two years we've been hearing here about how an attack on Iran is imminent. What's the hold up?

7. This whole incident is suspicious.
Tony Blair is in trouble. Bush is in trouble. Black operations happen all the time. What a perfect way to wag the dog from the USA across the Atlantic. These poor British soldiers could have been pawns just like the rest of the soldiers in Iraq are being used for corporate greed and power. I can hear the agents bragging now.:dem:

18. You are probably correct, after all congress just committed another $12 billion
...to the Iraq war. Imagine the hundreds of billions, even trillions of dollars that would go into a regional war with Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan involved. WAR IS A RACKET!

9. It would seen they (Iran) want it...
but I doubt it will happen.

I think that it would be difficult for a president with a 30% approval rating (primarily based on his mishandling of a stupid and unnecessary war) to launch a new conflict without EXTREMELY good cause.

At worst, the US or Britain would launch air strikes a la Bosnia/Lebanon, but even that is far off IMO. It would require a significant move of aggression on Iran's part.

But I also think it would be silly to BAN an attack on Iran. It's part of negotiating. You never take your options off the table. It would be like a car salesman offering his lowest possible price to the buyer FIRST. It You never know what Achmandouchebag will try in the future.

And how many times have we seen the "OMG, BushCO will attack Iran any day now!" threads on DU? For at least the past three years or so.

10. Iraq was a paper tiger, Iran has real teeth
For all the vilification of the Iranian regime by this administration, I must say that Iranians have shown quite a large degree of restrain. The US military alone is responsible for killing a few hundred Iranian civilians. Attacking Iran would be incredibly stupid, it is a large country, it has a relatively modern armed forces, it is aligned with China and Russia as a major supplier of oil for both. Last thing he US can do is give an excuse for Shiites and Sunnis to come together and have all the troops in the gulf are become sitting ducks. Plus Iran can target most of our carrier groups in the persian gulf.

This is nothing but constant sable ratting by an idiot that should not have been allowed to manage anything larger than a McDonald's.

Oil Jumps to a 6-Month High as Iran Tensions Threaten Shipments

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601103&sid=aaFe3O8I1TB8&refer=us

By Mark Shenk

March 28 (Bloomberg) --

Crude oil surged above $64 a barrel to close at a six-month high in New York on concern
that tensions with Iran will escalate, disrupting shipments from the Middle East.

"It is now time to ratchet up the pressure," Prime Minister Tony Blair said in
Parliament in London today, referring to the capture of 15 U.K. naval personnel.

Oil jumped late yesterday on speculation the U.K. would mount a rescue attempt.

A report today showed that U.S. crude oil, gasoline, diesel and heating oil supplies
declined last week.

"As long as the British naval personnel are held, prices are going to move higher,"
said John Kilduff, vice president of risk management at Fimat USA in New York.

"The chances of a military incident occurring in the Persian Gulf are high.

The volatility that occurred last night is probably a preview of what we will see in the weeks to come."

Stock up or fill up now! The prices are going up just because
spring is here and vacation time but now also because of this.

I'm soooooooooooooo tired of it all.

25. me too. i called dick durbin's office yesterday and asked a staffer
if it was possible for the dems to put in some type of emergency bill that wouldn't allow bush to attack iran--i told her so many of us were concerned about this, especially with the british troops that were picked up and are being held by iran.

i told the staffer i was listening to randi rhodes (the dj on air america that durbin really likes and i know she adores him, i said) and she was reading an article from a paper outside the u.s. that was talking about "operation bite" which is supposedly our planned attack on iran early in the morning on good friday--their sabbath.

her and i googled the article together ("operation bite" iran) and she said it was the first time she had heard of this.

she said there really isn't any way to stop bush from attacking whoever he wants to--congress can't prevent him from attacking, they can only prevent him from another war.

oh. my. god.

i mentioned that i heard they pulled that stipulation out of the iraq funding bill, she said she thought it was webb who had proposed it.

but it didn't seem like there was much we can do at this point. (you do know that we have been doing this incredible build up in the waters over there, right?)

26. If you're afraid now prepare to be terrified!!
This article is too well argued to be ignored.

- Easter Surprise: Attack on Iran, New 9/11… or Worse -

The Bush administration continues moving closer to a nuclear attack on Iran, and we ignore the obvious buildup at our peril.

Russian media is sounding alarms. In February, ultra-nationalist leader Vladimir Shirinovsky warned that the US would launch a strike against Tehran at the end of this month. Then last week, the Russian News and Information Agency Novosti (RIA-Novosti) quoted military experts predicting the US will attack Iran on April 6th, Good Friday. According to RIA-Novosti, the imminent assault will target Iranian air and naval defense capabilities, armed forces headquarters as well as key economic assets and administration headquarters. Massive air strikes will be deployed, possibly tactical nuclear weapons as well, and the Bush administration will attempt to exploit the resulting chaos and political unrest by installing a pro-US government.

Sound familiar? It’s Iraq déjà vu all over again, and we know how well that war has gone.

Edited on Thu Mar-29-07 10:35 PM by Breeze54
I just don't see that happening. besides, Iran can't reach the US.
Bush was spouting about taking out their nuke power plants.
I think I did read that. Not sure now where I read it.
I'd be more terrified for the people of Iran and the soldiers in theater.

But not my safety here, in the US.

30. I've got an Iranian friend, too.
One of the finest engineers I ever worked with. And I need to try to find him again.

He's from the Caspian area.

I hope he somehow managed to get his parents out.

This is madness.
