AMERICANS! Time is short! It is now time to PUSH BACK! And we will push back until Congress...
So what will work? Only one thing: long-term, nondestructive, friendly, civil disobedience in Washington D.C. and in major cities across America. We can no longer sit on our hands while Congress drives us into bankruptcy. We must take swift, decisive action. It will take commitment, time, money, and guts. But are we up to it? YES! We have a country to save!
Here's how:
The most-anticipated event of the year in Washington D.C. is the President's State of the Union address. The President, Congress, Supreme Court, various military officers, and dozens of other dignitaries all gather at the Capitol for the fanfare. We need to capitalize on this situation to get their attention. So on the day of the State of the Union address, hundreds of thousands of Americans descend on downtown Washington D.C. What do we do when we get there? Easy: The day of the address (date unknown as of March 29, 2009), at 8:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m., and 8:00 p.m., we step into as many crosswalks as possible (map1 , map2, Google .kmz file (download), and list) as we can. Make every attempt to obey the law, but walk slowly across the intersection so there will be a good number still in the intersection when the light turns green for traffic to go straight. This will also prevent traffic from turning right when their light is red. Do this as long as it takes to create a traffic jam at your intersection and on the surrounding seats. (If walking slowly does not create a traffic jam, you might have to resort to filling all crosswalks at the same time. This is a decision that will need to be made on the spot.) This should bring D.C. to a standstill and create a major disruption in the day-to-day lives of Congress. We need to "spoil their day" - otherwise, they will continue to ignore the fact that they are destroying our country by irresponsible spending.
Those who cannot travel to D.C. will bring traffic to a standstill in the closest major city (especially state capitols) at 4:00 p.m. on the afternoon of the State of the Union address. Because state and local governments are having the same problem as we are having at the national level. So we will send them the same message: limit taxes and spending.
