Anyone else think it's time for the Repubs to choose a new symbol?
They use the elephant, and the old saying about elephants goes:
(all together now, people)

An Elephant Never Forgets.

That has become an almost laughingly ill-fitting motto for this current crop of Repubs, and I don't know what might be an appropriate symbol for them at this point.

Judging by the testimony I'm seeing here, most of these people can barely be trusted to remember their own freakin' NAMES or where they live, let alone whether they authorized or participated in something that affects the entire country.

I'm wondering if it would save time for everyone who is under subpoena, or is about to be questioned to undergo a strict memory evaluation, performed by non-partisan experts in this particular field.

Those who fail this evalutation will be immediately fired and barred from holding public office again* and replaced with people who don't suffer from such impaired cognitive faculties.

Everyone else- those who can remember what day of the week it is they did, when, with whom and for how much will be allowed to retain their jobs- and expected to testify as scheduled.

Three consecutive "can't/don't remember" answers, or more than a predetermined number during testimony means they automatically lose their positions and are replaced, just like the ones who flunked the exam.

*Maybe they ought to be allowed to re-test...but a successful re-take means they would have to testify as originally scheduled.

16. GOP announces the elephant is dead
in keeping with Bush policies and in order to not embarrass the president, the GOP has now adopted the ostrich as its symbol. If it's good enough for our President to hide from things he'd rather not acknowledge, it's good enough for us.

Surveys among GOP loyalists show strong support for the new symbol. They admire the quick adoption by the GOP Senators who refused to discuss the Iraq surge even though Iraq is the single most important issue to their constituents.

A few loyalists requested that a diaper be placed on the ostrich's behind so they didn't have to inadvertently see any private parts.

Others did not recognize the animal based on the 'head in the sand' sketch. They asked if the beheading was intended to demonstrate strength to al quaida.

25. The condom

REPUBLICANS CHANGING SYMBOL
The Republican National Committee announced today that the Republican Party is changing its emblem from
an elephant to a condom.
The committee chairman explained that the condom more clearly reflects the party's stance today,
because a condom accepts inflation, halts production, destroys the next generation, protects a bunch of
pricks, and gives you a sense of security while you're actually getting screwed.

27. A "Revoke the Elephant" movement needs to be started
For the sake of all elephants their reputations should no longer be associated with a cult of people who make losing ones memory a sign of loyalty.
The only replacement I can think of would be the three monkeys; see no, hear no, and say no.

just wish to point out that the stars on the gop logo are of the upside-down variety. this is the symbol of the goat, pan, anarchy, the devil.
so, no, i think their symbol suits them to a T.
