Man opens fire in New York immigration services building, at least 4 people shot
A man opened fire in a building where services are provided to immigrants in the New York State town of Binghamton Friday, shooting as many as four people and taking up to 40 hostage, local media reported.

Four people were removed from the American Civic Association building on stretchers and taken to hospitals, the Press & Sun-Bulletin newspaper reported on its website.

A police special weapons and tactics team was on scene and the shooter still inside, the newspaper said, citing police. Television coverage showed armed police deployed around the building.

As many as 41 people were inside the building when a man entered and started shooting, WBNG television news reported on its website, citing police scanners.

2. Whose Making Book On Political Affiliation Of The Shooter?
I've got some money on Republican, and probably either a Glenn Beck or Limbaugh listerer or both.

7. Doubt it is political at all
I am betting this has more to do with a domestic or immigration issue.

14. I would guess apathetic.......
Most people don't have a "political affiliation", many don't even bother voting. It's funny how some people always have to look at things in a political perspective. Bat shit crazy is just what it seems, no politics required.

8. will probably end with shooter suicide. Why not encourage suicide BEFORE mass killings
Life Sux? thinking about killing a ton of people and ultimately yourself? Save us all some trouble and kill yourself, loser. Just because your life's in the toilet, be a man for once in your life and do the right thing.

The Human Race thanks you

9. GAWD am I tired of people jumping right into politics whenever something like this happens. (This is
not directed at the OP, although that's where I'm responding.) About 40 percent of the eligible voters in this country didn't vote in the 2008 elections. People who are mentally ill enough to shoot up a building aren't doing it because of their party affiliation. I know there's a lot of "I think being a 'Repukelican' is a mental illness! Hoo hoo!" and "Anyone who listens to Rush is crazy enough to shoot someone! Hee hee!" on this board and it drives me right up the wall. Mental illness is a complicated, largely misunderstood problem, and to try and make it political is just stupid.

Sorry, ck4829, like I said this wasn't directed at you. But I saw a couple of responses going in this direction and I figured this was the best way to address them all.
