So. Winning both houses of Congress is not enough to stop the bitching
Those elected have to immediately take care of every one of our wishes, hopes and desires that have been there for the past number of years. It has to happen immediately, or those legislators are to be torn to shreds.

Are you nuts?

Damn. Rome wasn't rebuilt in a day, and I have to say.......

After not logging in for a while, I was shocked to see all the negative threads about democratic hopefuls.

Stop the bitching, and listen to those who are in DC.

Just a suggestion.

8. I am meeting some of them in a few hours and they don't adoooore all Dems
either...

Mostly Greens really and they don't really care about anyone other than true progressives being in either house..

(well ok-twice at the local level)...
I am a Democrat in practice-a Green at heart, which is why I want instant run-off voting to be possibe, so I could vote my conscience without a psycho like the idiot child coming into power.
I still think one should be able to bash one's own party without being considered a Green mole...

There are lots of Dems I love: Leahy, Gore, Ted Kennedy, Kerry, Dr.Dean (one of the best-damn was I sad when he lost)...
and many I can't stand: Edwards, Obama, Bayh, Lieberpig and so on...

If that makes me a "bad dem" so be it....I voted for Gore and Kerry enthusiastically....
If Edwards is the candidate in 2008, I will hold my nose and vote for him, but I won't stop bitching about him....

6. No kidding!
After we pushed SO hard for the last 6 years, and all the gnashing of teeth, and all the fear over what this administration has done to our country, etc...its completely unbelievable to me how DU took an almost immediate turn toward eating our own.

I often wondered what DU would be like if/when we regained the majority, and of all the things I envisioned, I have to admit, this current overarching attitude toward Dems was never one of them.

Quite frankly, Im GLAD the Dems in Congress have been taking careful steps the way they have so far, and have NOT treated their majority status as childishly as some on DU would have them do.

So far, so good, if you ask me. Lets let them do their jobs, and bitch if they don't, but only after a reasonable amount of time, fercrissakes!

While I think that the Dems must be held accountable, it seems that some folks here are hell bent for leather to see things in the most negative way.

Maybe it's because I grew up in a very negative, combative environment, but I just hate coming here sometimes and seeing the infighting, the attacks, etc. I don't mean that we can't have disagreements, even heated ones. But, wow, sometimes it gets so ugly in here, I don't want to read the threads.

For example, today we have numerous threads about John Edwards and the house he's having built. I personally don't care about what kind of house he, or anyone else, builds. I really don't. What I care about is, what does this person do for those who have less? John Edwards has done a lot for those who have less, for those who otherwise would have no voice.

This is what I was taught by my parents: It's not my place to worry about those who have more than me. It is my responsibility to take care of those who have less than me. I think that's what Edwards does.

Pardon the segue to Edwards, but it was the hot topic for today. Back to the main topic. Sometimes it seems, as others have said, that we do the Repukes job for them, with all the infighting and such.

I don't expect ANY elected politician to completely meet my expectations. It's unrealistic. Nor do I expect them to be the ones doing all the heavy lifting. People, WE have to participate, not just bitch about, the things that happen in Washington.

As it says in the opening paragraph of The Constitution of the United States of America:

"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

That's WE THE PEOPLE, folks. WE. THE. PEOPLE.

Stop looking only to those we elect to get it done. It's up to us, too.

They walked the walk, most definitely. And believe me, we didn't have all that much, back in the day.

While there were many problems between them, there were still good things too, including that lesson.

I don't resent or get angry about people who have more money than I do. For me, it's not the money you have; it's what you do with it.

To give yourself and your family some creature comforts is just fine, in my book. To look the other way, to pretend that the poor do not exist, to do nothing to help those less fortunate, no matter WHAT your station in life is, is to me the bad thing.

I don't have much right now, in terms of finances, but I had enough to help a friend who has even less than I do. I don't see that changing if I were a millionaire. And I think there are other people who feel the same way.

I was getting seriously disgusted with a lot of the posts on DU.

Yes, it's good to debate. Yes, we must hold our elected representatives responsible. But people on these boards were whining about how Dems weren't addressing (insert favorite issue here) THE DAY AFTER the election!

Nancy Pelosi goes to Iraq? It's a photo op, when she should be addressing (MY ISSUE).
John Edwards buys a house? OMG! He's FINISHED!
Hillary talks on her cell phone instead of answering a reporter's question? SHE REFUSES TO DISCUSS OBAMA!

Ye gods, we don't need the Freepers, or Fox Noise. Some people here pick up and run with every snark, every lie, every exaggeration, put out by the media.
