9. Of course he has money.
As several folks have pointed out, every candidate for president in 2008 -- including Ralph Nader -- will be rich because Americans don't trust people who aren't rich to run the country. It's the old "Camelot thing".

Cows. He has COWS!? As we all should know, cattle ranching is as big, or possibly bigger, environmental problem than automobiles and industry.

Off with his head.

(And, yes, there's just a little bit of sarcasm flowing through this thread.)

That would be cruel and inhumane... let the cows live... and fart... and blow up the ozone layer...wait no- then we will die, eat those fuckers, or maybe soybeans, but then there would still be cows. perhaps if we ate acorns? and taught the cows not to fart. no- rich people would buy up all of the oak trees...fuck, I got nuthin

42. Could that be the answer?
Of course, there is the matter of humans that join with the cows in this activity. Rich people already buy up everything anyway, but they cannot take our activities. Acorns or no acorns. May flatulance rule. Oh. No. Wrong. Bad. Maybe we could duct tape the ozone hole.

7. Looks like a 1,500 square foot farm house surrounded by a horse farm.
Edited on Sat Jan-27-07 02:35 AM by Leopolds Ghost
I bet Gore's father owned it.

It looks surprisingly modest for the sort of "old money" Gore's parents had in Tenessee horse country.

But I guess Edwards can do no wrong in the eyes of folks who don't have good depth perception

(Edwards' compound could not fit on-screen if photographed from the same distance by the same camera.)

16. As I understand it that's the house Al built
Edited on Sat Jan-27-07 02:59 AM by Mabus
He bought the land from his dad and built the house. His parents lived across and up the road a bit.

on edit: my husband, a Gore supporter to the max, and I were heading to D.C. We were driving and he decided we had time for a detour to Carthage so we go by Al's house. It was his way of paying homage to Gore. We found both the Gore homes. To my horror, my husband went off the road and up the driveway to Al Gore Sr.'s front doorstep. We were less than 20 feet from the front door of it. I was so stunned that he had driven up to the house that I didn't take pictures. He offered to turn the car around so I could take pictures but I declined.

15. Just in case anybody's taking this joke thread seriously...
This is the family farm that Gore inherited*. (The Gores also have a house in Arlington that Tipper inherited from her family, a house in Nashville itself and a residence in San Francisco.)

The Gore family is carbon neutral. Both businesses that Gore runs - - Current TV and Generation Investment (which invests in ecologically and socially progressive businesses) - - are both carbon neutral. The family car is a Lexus hybrid. Gore insists that he's driven to and from events in a hybrid car. The family purchases a ton of carbon offsets to balance the carbon that they do produce - - including the carbon created by their air travel. (Gore does not fly by private jet, he takes commercial flights like the rest of us.)

The film and book forms of "An Inconvenient Truth" were certified carbon neutral. Al and Tipper Gore have given every cent they stood to make off "An Inconvenient Truth" to global warming education.

*Because I know this will be an issue for some people... Gore's family wasn't wealthy until he was an adult. Tipper's family was middle class at best.

I mean, I get your point, that's not really huge in the grand scheme of things.

Besides, if that's the one in Carthage, then it's his family home. He lives in California now. Not sure what he did with the home near Brentwood.

43. Gore has a new house outside Nashville - resembles the White House
Edited on Sun Jan-28-07 02:46 AM by kskiska
(snip)

Bill Frist was raised in Belle Meade, the old-money suburb of Nashville and the fifth richest town in the United States. You drive down the roads and boulevards looking at the homes, which were built in the early part of the 20th century, and it looks like the Executive Mansion Hall of Fame. There are several houses that look like the White House (Al Gore lives in one ). There are several that look like the sort of palazzo a Venetian prince might settle in to escape a foreign invasion. And there are a few châteaus a French president might choose to inhabit on days when he was feeling particularly grand.

Although there are a few homes in the southern plantation style (including some modern-looking Tara ramblers), the dominant mode is more like Buckingham Palace, though less showy and arriviste.

But the houses are mere specks compared with the front yards, which stretch on forever. I began to measure the yards by what kind of golf club you would need to use from the street to send a ball through a front parlor window. Some of the homes have mere 3 iron yards, but many have 2 wood yards, and several have Tiger Woods-with-a-driver-and-the-wind-at-his-back yards.

PLUS… He owns a luxury condo in San Francisco:

August 23, 2006
Al Gore buys San Francisco condo

Buried at the end of a Matier & Ross column in the San Francisco Chronicle is the news that Al and Tipper Gore have purchased a luxury condo in San Francisco.

Gore is a businessman these days —— sitting on the boards of Apple Computer Inc. and Current TV, the cable and satellite channel he started with investor Joel Hyatt —— "and those take him (to the Bay Area) pretty regularly for board meetings and the like," said his spokeswoman, Kalee Kreider.

It also helps explain why Al and Tipper Gore recently bought a luxury condo at San Francisco's St. Regis tower at Third and Mission streets.

And now comes some additional news —— youngest daughter Sarah Gore is also taking up residence in the city, attending medical school at UCSF.

44. for the sun of a Senator
and the man who actually won the Presidency in 2000, this is a fairly modest home. It's only a couple notches above clark Kents Farm.

Gore already won, before Bush shamed himself and the country. He would win again. He is tried and tested. There will be no secrets revealed. He is teflon at this point.

PS - he should have solar panels though. BUT - you and I should also be recycling more. And we know we are not. Theres a big difference between his possible typical human hypocrisy, and Bush and cheney's Fascism.

46. My God, look at the size of that mansion
It must be 2,000, maybe 2,500 square feet!!111!!! That's HUGH!!111!1111

Those trees around actually do reflect a little greenness in the design, but the only thing that looks extravagant (I mean the acreage just reflects the fact it's a farmhouse) is that horse fence. Those things are pricey.
