1. I hope Sen. Byrd washed that hand well. He has no idea where it's been.

9. Agreed. Byrd is also staring at Bush very intently, it appears.
Bush looks almost... chastened.

3. I know Bob Byrd is getting very old, but his mind is sharper today
than Shrubs ever was!

I feelbad, butmy guess is that we won't have Bob around too much longer.

6. I didn't realize Sen. Byrd was so frail
His mind is sharp but his body is showing its age.

10. Correction, it was one Congressional Gold Medal for the entire
...Tuskegee Air Corps representing 994 airmen. Any surviving airman or families of deceased airmen who wished to have a replica of the Congressional Gold Medal needs to purchase them for $38.50:wtf:

11. Hate to rain on the Feel-Good Parade, but looks to me like * ain't all that happy. My read on
the pic is that Sen. Byrd just grabbed *'s hand as * was breezing on past

Looks to me like Byrd wants to say something to *. If * had deliberately taken hold of Byrd's hand, Byrd wouldn't have a wrist-hold on him like that.

I think * looks perplexed, just trying to figure a way to shake the old guy off. Think facial expressions of "perplexity" and "concern." Not much difference, imo.

12. Poignant picture
Pres. John F. Kennesy was born in 1917 - so was Sen. Robert Byrd. Whenever I see pictures of the frail Byrd, I think of how we will always remember Jack Kennedy as young. Byrd, whose mind is clear and whose debating skills are still sharp, despite carrying the weight of 89 years doesn't give up. He will be missed when he is gone.
