Alexander Acosta's Role in stealing the 2004 Presidential electon (as well as and others).
Acosta was put in place at Assistant Attorney General of the Civil Rights Division in June 2003. Once his work for the 2004 electons was behind him, Bush moved him to Florida in June 2005, where he is now US Attorney for the Southern District -- undoubtedly to reward him (send him back home) for a "heck of a job" and to put him in position to help steal the past midterms and next Presidential election.
Back in December of '05, I was prompted to take closer look at Acosta's involvement in election thefts by the Washington Post report that the Justice Department approved the Texas Redistricting plan in defiance of the unanimous conclusion, issued by the attorneys in the Voting Rights section, that the plan violated the Voting Rights Act.
The Texas case was not alone. The chief of the department's voting rights section, John Tanner, overruled staff on Georgia's ID req, the Republican-backed redistricting in Mississippi, and the illegal district map in Arizona. From Mid-2003 until the election, Tanner's recommendations went to Acosta who "did the deeds" and issued (if the change benefited repubs) or denied (if the change benefited dems) preclearnce. The timeline of actions, not just of Acosta, but of appellate courts and SCOTUS, tells a damning tale. Here it is:
