I don't think America is going to fall for that again. Dubya has ruined the Marlboro Man candidacy. And, as others have said, McCain is no longer allowed to use the "maverick" label.
He lost my respect when he embraced, literally, GWB at the Republican convention. That was a truly disgusting display. He's man-hugging Bush with his eyes closed in esctasy. The same man who slimed him during the primaries -- push polling McCain by implying he had fathered an illegitimate child. McCain is a former POW who man-hugged a guy who sent out his flying monkeys to destroy John Kerry with the paid Liars for Hire Swiftboat whores.
He's traded all his capital for this nomination.
