Barbara Bush visits Tennessee school: "She has the same compassion I see in my teachers!"
Former First Lady Barbara Bush is coming to Scenic Land School on Thursday at 1:10 p.m. to hear Scenic Land students read their latest book Getting Over It!, Book 2. Following the reading, students will present Mrs. Bush with a signed copy.

“We are very humbled that she has accepted our invitation to spend a few moments with our children to encourage them as she must have done with her own son Neil,” said Eileen Card, principal of the K-8 school for children with dyslexia. “Having a son with learning differences has given her the same compassion I see in my teachers. We are a kindred, spirited group of motivators who believe that being 'different,' even learning 'differently,' produces our greatest leaders. We have no trouble thinking outside the box here!”

“It’s awesome to think that the Former First Lady has struggled with the same challenges that I have," said Dixie Gray, language arts chair. “It is truly an honor to have her come to listen to 'my kids' read their latest book.”

GHWB and Bar must know someone in Chattanooga because they came to the opening of Bell South Park (Chattanooga Lookouts) baseball stadium a few years back. Chattanooga is an old money town filled with Republican heirs and heiresses to big fortunes (Olan Mills Photography, Krystal Restaurants, Siskin Steel, etc.) and wealthy corporate leaders and politicians (Sen Corker.)

5. Wait, is Neil dyslexic?
Or does the teacher just feel sorry for her having to raise him or be associated with him?
