Gonzales Says Again He Won't Resign

BOSTON -- U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales told reporters in Boston on Friday that he has no plans to resign, and maintains he merely signed off on the firings of eight prosecutors.

The embattled attorney general spoke to reporters after meeting with Boston-based U.S. Attorney Michael Sullivan and other local prosecutors.

Asked why he wouldn't resign, Gonzales said he thinks he's "fighting for the truth." He said every step he's taken is consistent with the principles of truth and accountability.
