Rudy backs off talk of 2-for-1 presidency

It started out as an attempt to put the complicated Rudy-loves-Judi story in the best light.

Instead it conjured up visions of a 2-for-1 presidency -- a la Hillary Rodham Clinton's failed health care plan -- and sent Rudolph Giuliani backpedaling.

Giuliani said in an interview airing Friday night that he would welcome his wife Judith's attendance at policy meetings on topics she cared about, even Cabinet meetings.

By day's end, however, Giuliani was backing off those pre-taped comments, telling a conservative talk radio host that he didn't envision a policy role for her across his administration, merely on her pet issue of helping people stay healthy.
