More Cat Food Follies...
Just heard on the radio that Hills Pet Food has recalled their m/d dry cat food for similar reasons to the current "cuts and gravy" recall.

Hills Pet Nutrition recalls dry cat food for fear of tainted wheat gluten

March 30, 2007 - 18:44

By: TOBI COHEN

TORONTO (CP) - A massive North American pet food recall got even bigger Friday as Hills Pet Nutrition recalled one of its brands of dry cat kibble for fear it contained melamine, the same toxin that forced Menu Foods to pull "cuts and gravy" products from shelves across the continent.

Hills recalled its Prescription Diet m/d Feline Dry food after melamine, a chemical used as a fertilizer in Asia and also to make plastic kitchenware, was identified as the likely culprit in the Menu Foods recall - one of the largest of its kind ever in North America.

1. Have used their products
when my cats had kidney disease to begin with.

Mysterious article - someone adulterated one product and they have been dealt with???
The American supplier of the wheat gluten has still not been named - must be a friend of bush or something.

2. Here is my letter verbatim to Hill's Science Diet.
I am extremely disappointed with Science Diet for allowing all these plastic chemicals, poison, and who knows what other toxic waste you have allowed in pet food. Considering how expensive Science Diet food is and how you claim it is such better food for our pets than Purina, I was alarmed when I saw that Science Diet uses the same ingredients as horrible store brands such as Winn Dixie and Wal Mart. How do you justify your prices now that the truth has been told that you are using inferior ingredients in our pets' food and claiming it is so much better?

I have an older cat who is on the Sensitive Stomach Dry Food you make. If anything happens to her because you were slow to admit your wrongdoing, it would be a horrible thing to have to endure and I can guarantee you that I will pursue every available means to sue you and I'll do anything else I can do to make sure you are never allowed to poison anyone's pet ever again with your shoddy quality control practices. There is NOTHING that could bring her back if she got sick. She has been on your food for the last 4 years now. She managed to live 12 years of her life on Purina Cat Chow until the vet recommended the change for her sensitive stomach.

It is my sincere hope that Hill's and all the other cat food distributors (you obviously do not make your own food, but distribute it from China and everywhere else that says they will make it and poison it and put plastic chemicals in it) will stop and think of all the harm your actions have caused the pets and owners who wanted to feed the very best products to our pets. To know that when I scoop the dry food into my cats' bowl, that I could be killing them because of your sorriness despite the fact that I trusted you is beyond discouraging. I'd like to know how you think you are going to make this up to the pet owners of this country. If I can find an alternative to your food at this point, I'm taking it, especially if it is made by a small company that makes their own food.

In the meantime, if Hill's Science Diet Sensitive Stomach Dry Cat Food could even POSSIBLY be on the list for having plastic making chemicals and rat poison in it, please let me know at the earliest possible time. I do NOT want to kill my cats by feeding them the toxic waste and poison and other random junk you allow in your food.
