Just found out my Brother in law was again laid off from his job...aircraft
he did work for a Tyson meat production company the company closed after 25 years

he then got on at Hawker Beechcraft

then my sister lost her job as the nursing home she was bookkeeper for for 25 years downsized ( I think they let her go because they kept the younger girl with less pay)

she got a different job, but 1/3 of the pay

This week my brother in law was again laid off

They have been through it

I feel for them so much

they will be okay bill wise but the insurance they will greatly miss. Both their boys have bad asthma

1. she will never get the nice house she has wanted for 25 years
they live in a dinky two bedroom one bath that is falling down around them. All she has ever wanted was a nice modular home to put on the lot they bought next to their run down house. She thought she would finally be able to buy a decent modular

but now they are back to nothing

6. thanks...he worked for IBP/Tyson...was one that lost that job
then got on at Hawker beechcraft...all seemed great

then sister lost her job the Nursing home she had worked at ALL her life sold and the new company let her go...I thought she had an age discrimination case but she found a different job...less pay

now he has lost this job.

I wish I had a LOT of money to give her or buy her a house

that is all she has ever wanted was a decent house

8. When I lived in Emporia, they tried to unionize IBP
The anti union forces were brought in by management and the union lost the organizing vote. Then IBP almost immediately started to lay folks off. Now that plant is closing I hear. Maybe already closed.

3. It's so shitty when you feel like you're getting some momentum, and then it all tumbles. :(

4. I am so sorry to hear that.
I hope they look into state funded health care for the boys. There may be a program that can help. I will think good thoughts that something will come up.
