So right now I'm listening to the podcast edition of "As It Happens." As many of our Canadian DUers know, that is one of the programs from the Canadian Broadcasting Company (CBC).
David Inglesias is being interviewed. He says that when he took the call on December 7, he asked why he was being let go. He says the person responded that he didn't know, and he didn't want to know.
Inglesias mentions how the reasons for his dismissal keep changing. But, he says "it's clearly political in nature."
Also of note from his interview:
- He says that at no time did anyone from DOJ advise him that he had any deficiencies.
- To the contrary, he received a letter from the Director of the Executive Office, citing him for exemplary leadership.
- He found out last week that his office was the 4th most productive office.
Mr. Inglesias says he's been a Republican most of his life. He's believed in their platform and core values. But he says that throughout this "scandal" and "attempted cover-up" that somebody in Washington has lost their "moral compass" and is not shooting straight w/ the American people.
He says the most surprising thing for him, has been the cavalier and sophomoric attitude of some of the staff working for Alberto Gonzales and his deputy. He says you've got a bunch of 30-year old kids with no real-world prosecutorial experience; just political experience. They don't know what prosecutors do, but they were sitting in judgement over the prosecutors...he says especially their sophomoric and cavalier tone towards Carol Lam.
It was a great interview.
