Bush's Speechwriters in Cold Sweat This AM: "I Like PEANUTS As Much As the Next Guy" (Radio Address)
Today's radio address: http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2007/03/20070331.html

My partner and I burst out laughing when we heard Bush deliver that line about liking PEANUTS as much as the next guy.

Saturday Night Live could have a *field day* with that very close call on their "Fun with Audio" cartoon segment. (Think Dick and W in the Lincoln Bedroom, with a "Mission Accomplished" banner over the canopy.)

; )

His speechwriters must have drained a couple of bottles of scotch this morning, terrified that he would botch it on live radio.

7. It Was...
... and it appears that they were going for a sound bite.

I just hope the Democrats counter next week with: "If the President really cared about the security of our troops, he wouldn't have sent them into harm's way without the body armor and up-armored vehicles they needed, and he wouldn't have tolerated substandard conditions at Walter Reed and other medical facilities."

6. does not look like he ad libbed:
The Democrats loaded up their bills with billions of dollars in domestic spending completely unrelated to the war, including $3.5 million for visitors to tour the Capitol, $6.4 million for the House of Representatives' Salaries and Expenses Account, and $74 million for secure peanut storage. I like peanuts as much as the next guy, but I believe the security of our troops should come before the security of our peanut crop. For all these reasons, that is why I made it clear to the Democrats in Congress, I will veto the bill

9. Of course he did...
...that "pork" would make sense. Every bill that comes out of Congress, D or R, is loaded with fat. Some of the fat, in reality, makes sense. Much of it doesn't, but it doesn't really matter, if Bush vetoes a military spending bill, it will be because it limits his power. This dumbfuck has only used the veto once before, and that was to placate his relgious extreme-right wingnutter following.

12. That's the logic of a four year old
How do the peanut storage people affect security of the troops? That's for the remaining 30 percent, I guess. Somehow that makes sense to them.

Obviously, he's never seen a bill with other things attached to it. This is something the Democrats just decided to do one day.
