1. don't know
but I'm a dead dog Democrat . . . I'll vote for a dead dog before I'll vote for a republican.

2. yellow dog democrat means a voter who would pull the lever for
Edited on Sat Mar-31-07 08:06 PM by Tom Joad
a yellow dog if it were the Democrat in the race. From the South post civil war they hated reconstruction, so voted for the racist party of the time, the Democrats
(many of them have since become Republicans, as Nixon et.al. successfully used racism to scare away Dems from the Party.)

But even now some people use the term, not necessarily of people of the south or conservatives, just loyal Dems.
Blue dog is a conservative Dem officeholder.

4. The Blue Dog Democrats are a group of relatively conservative Dems
in Congress. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Dog_Democrats

Yellow Dog Democrats, in contrast, are people who would vote for a yellow dog if it was a Democrat.

5. Yellow Dog Democrats would vote for a democrat no matter what!
They'd vote for a yellow dog before a republican.

Blue Dog Democrats are the conservative wing of the democratic party. ;)

IMO, like the DLC, they seemingly ALWAYS get their way as they have plenty of corporate funding.

9. That's an excellent question.
From my perspective (please help us elaborate?)

"a blue dog" democrat, especially in The South, is Fiscally Moderate-to-Liberal BUT remains Socially Conservative.

7. I'm a Green Dog Dem. Usually vote Dem - but don't count on it.
Or, a Red&Black Dog Democrat who usually votes Dem as the lesser of 2 evils - but don't count on it.

10. So why are republican states RED? These RW repukes are not offended by being associated with RED?
....I never heard of a red democrat. A left wing democrat certainly, but no red democrats. But, if a state goes over to the republicans it is called a RED State! Red Coat British soldiers were the enemy of the United States for a very long time. So, are republican RED states pro-British, like tories? Interesting.
