6. Why assume that MSNBC isn't making money?
Because your parent company got a bailout (DID they??), that doesn't mean that you are being paid with that money. That article sounds like a bunch of bs to me. It dismisses Keith's genuine concern and twists what he says.

9. Did you read the author's bio? He worked for Gingrich.
Peter Roff, a senior fellow with the Institute for Liberty, is a veteran Washington political operative and journalist. A former political director for Newt Gingrich’s GOPAC he was, for five years, the senior political writer for United Press International, the venerable wire service in operation for more than 100 years.

The site is US News and World Report. It's been around for a long time.

10. Ha ha ha
I love it when someone who's obviously biased complains about and then writes a biased article about someone else who's supposed to be biased. The irony train just left the station. The lefty comments on the page are smart and factual, and the righty ones are hilariously over-the-top. Let 'em scream.

17. It's not BS. The facts of his pay raise are correct. At the end of the day, so what?
US NEWS and WORLD REPORT is a magazine that's been around for decades. They're business oriented, and generally more conservative than not.

Last time I checked, Olbermann was a TV pundit, a "worker bee," not a CEO of a bailout company. There's a distinct difference. I'd also like to see how much of the bailout money trickles down from the GE industrial arms (to include the defense contracts) to MSNBC. I'm guessing that amount will hover around zero.

I think people at MSNBC should contribute to the treasury when the people at Fox do the same. I don't watch any of that crap, it's tiresome.

Olbermann is not CEO, CFO, COO, etc. He is just a worker, who gets paid well because he gets good ratings.

26. More Faux Crap
The FDIC allowed GE Capital to insure 139 billion. Unless they default there is no risk to taxpayers, so while the story has an element of truth, it exaggerates it past the point of truth.

30. The difference is - and I did not bother to read the whole piece -
is that his compensation was increased because he increased the views of the network - and ad revenue - while those executives continues to get more and more money while the value of their companies tanked.

31. A Major Distortion Of facts, Sir
G.E. Financial was taken under the wing of the F.D.I.C. insurance structure in November of 2008, with a 'credit limit' of one hundred thirty-nine billions, involving various short-term commercial papers that had to be rolled over by June of this year. This is not a loan or provision of capital to G.E. Financial from the government, and it is not apparent that any money actually changed hands at all.

39. KO?
Who cares? I quit listening to the overwhelmingly biased bastard during the primaries last year. He may have a different agenda but his journalistic skills suck as much as those of FOX. I've no interest in listening to such crap. He's a gun for hire. Why would I be surprised that his own financial conduct is lacking in integrity? Why would I be surprised that he would do something while complaining about someone else doing the very same thing? I'm not. He's complained about the lack of journalistic integrity at FOX for years while showing the same lack. Pot meet kettle. Fuck him.
