Well this we got 60 votes... yeah right. We don't

What we are seeing with the "centrist" democrats fighting things like healthcare, and reforms in banking is just the beginning

That is the nature of the party

So what is one to do? I mean herding these cats is harder than herding real cats.

I still say that they need to be reminded who's boss.

And here is a clue... we may (will mark my words) have to scare them enough to go the way of the people. Yep, this means peaceful assemblies, we call them demonstrations, as well as marches and the rest of the tools of the citizen.

I just wanted to remind you folks, we are herding cats... wait, cats are easier to herd than our congress critters and our US Senators, and we are competing against very powerful, and chiefly well heeled interests.

And anybody who thought the days of activism were over because we got the technical numbers, welcome to that thing called reality. It is cold, I know.

1. We need to remember that disorganized party that Will was talking
about gave us social security and a whole bunch of other liberal programs that held the country together for a long time until ronnie and his bushies tore it to pieces. As messed up as it seem if we keep after them they might just toe the mark and give us a workable solution. I am hoping.

3. Yes but people do not realize that this party Will was talking about
did it because the country was not very peaceful

There were honest to goodness riots in the 1930s... as well as demonstrations

People need to realize that those cats needed some herdin'

2. We have 47 Democratic Senators right now
14 (12 in our caucus 2 in theirs) Senators that are corporatist
1 Democratic Senator in waiting
38 Bat shit insane Senators

Anyone who tells you we have 60 votes on anything because we have 60 people in the caucus is being intellectually lazy.

4. Or not very knowledgeable of US history
or so many other reasons

Fact is, there is a reason for the meme... and on the surface is a real one

Obama could not get his OWN party to do this

Well he is a centrist too... the last truly progressive we had, was TR... his cousin FDR was a pragmatist... and events on the ground told him, and the party in control of the house and senate, that they could do what the people wanted and make it, or not... and all bets would be off

6. And as I said we need to keep on them - we are the people on the
ground. We need to make them. Unfortunately, I think things are going to have to get worse before we have enough people pushing to do that.

I also think that the Dems are playing politics - trying to make sure we get a second term by playing the middle game. That may be a big mistake as they will be seem as failing to bring change if they keep fiddling around. There are some promises that need to be kept NOW no matter what it might cost in the political sense. Single payer health care is at the top of the list and Iraq is not far behind. If they do not keep those promises in the first term I think we will have trouble.
