The US of A a once great nation of hard worker
Posted by prowler5 on May 3, 2009 at 11:25 a.m.

The US of A a once great nation of hard worker with individual initiative and country pride started downhill with FDR, many bad things, that LBJ worse and now to top it off we have and empty suite. Seems the schools have stopped teaching our history and the founding documents, that and the influx of people no longer interested in our country has continued the down slide. The inability of many of today’s folks to chart a course leaves them waiting for big brother to lead them by the hand. The results we see today is the headlong rush to socialism. I for one don’t like it and hope many others will join in the fight to stop this take over of our country.

1. Short version - I worked and slaved and sweat and skrimped and saved
to get where I am today with NO help from anybody and now those other people want to take what belongs to ME! I love America, it's just all those other people who live there I hate!

2. How stupid.
Typical repuke blather about how 'if you work hard enough you'll succeed'. That's a bunch of bs. The capitalist system rewards those at the top, and, as we have seen over the past 28 years, crushes the middle class and decimates the poor.

I'm so sick of these jerks who have had so much handed to them whine about how other people can't 'make it on their own like I did.'

3. Well, it might be because all the jobs are vanishing that's why fewer people are working.

Forgive me for not clicking the link. My intelligence won't let me permit it.

5. They need to hurry up with the march to Socialism
I'm sick of working 60 hours a week in a job that might be around tomorrow, paying for crappy health insurance, and paying taxes.

I want a nice 25-30 hour a week government gauranteed job with no stress, free health care, and to be in a tax bracket that has no liabilty or actually gets paid more money back than I have withheld.

10. Freeper-to-English dictionary at your service!
Freeper:
The US of A a once great nation of hard worker with individual initiative and country pride started downhill with FDR, many bad things, that LBJ worse and now to top it off we have and empty suite. Seems the schools have stopped teaching our history and the founding documents, that and the influx of people no longer interested in our country has continued the down slide. The inability of many of today’s folks to chart a course leaves them waiting for big brother to lead them by the hand. The results we see today is the headlong rush to socialism. I for one don’t like it and hope many others will join in the fight to stop this take over of our country.

English:
The USA was a once great nation of hard workers with individual initiative and pride in their country. Things started downhill with FDR, who did many bad things. It got worse under LBJ, and to top it off now we have an empty suit. It seems the schools have stopped teaching our history and the Founding Documents. That, and the influx of people who are no longer interested in our country, has continued the downhill slide. The inability of many of today's folks to chart their own course leaves them waiting for Big Brother to lead them by the hand. This has resulted in a headlong rush toward socialism. I, for one, don't like it. I hope many others will join me in the fight to stop this takeover of our country.

(Plenty of freeper-like persons refer to President Obama as an empty suit.)

Translation:
Tax cuts on the top one percent, and the offshoring of jobs to China, are good. Government actions that might improve my life are bad...because the government did them, no other reason. I love obstructionism by my party even though it hurts me, and hope everyone else feels the same way as I do.

You just have to know how to read these things!

8. the only truth in this is...
..."Seems the schools have stopped teaching our history and the founding documents" ...due to conservative, republican values that encourage business over the social studies and humanity.

9. Was it so great that its all said twice? Not IMO.
I expected that outlawing torture in school would be in there with the rest of the BS.

The greatest thing that came out of WW2 was the GI bill that revived the apprentice method of learning a trade. It needs a new start. I was there.

11. right, u-6 unemployment = 15% because nobody wants to work.
if those people would just get off their butts & get jobs, we'd be fine.

it wasn't lazy workers sending the jobs away.
