Church Not Booted Over Sex Sermons
'Great Sex For You' Fliers Create Controversy

MELBOURNE, Fla. -- After its contractual conflict drew worldwide media attention, New Hope Church will not get kicked out of Sherwood Elementary, its pastor said.

The Melbourne church rents the school auditorium for Sunday services because it outgrew its Post Road chapel. But Brevard Public Schools officials fielded complaints after church leaders mailed out 25,000 fliers touting a "Great Sex For You" sermon series, Local 6 News partner Florida Today reported.

Depicting a man and woman's feet poking out between bedsheets, the colorful fliers asked residents "Is Your Sex Life a Bore?"

The school district risk-management department told Pastor Bruce Cadle the fliers were inappropriate for an elementary-school setting, and the fliers may violate a lease agreement clause banning "obnoxious and inimical" activity.

But Thursday, Mark Langdorf, risk management director, e-mailed Cadle and stated that the contract will not be canceled. Rather, Langdorf warned that future New Hope Church advertisements should be appropriate for children ages 5 to 12.
