A film about the Three Stooges, simply titled The Three Stooges, is scheduled to be released in 2010. The Farrelly Brothers are still attached to the project,<24> even though their Warner Bros. deal to write and direct the film has expired. First Look Studios, working with C3 Entertainment, will distribute the motion picture.<25> The Farrellys have said that they were not going to do a biopic or remake, but instead new Three Stooges episodes set in the present day. The plot of the episodes is said to be an adventure that revolves around the Stooges characters.<26> The film taken to MGM studios will start production in the fall of 2009 to be released in 2010.<27> The studio has set Oscar-winner Sean Penn to play Larry, and negotiations are underway with Jim Carrey to play Curly, with the actor already making plans to gain 50 pounds to approximate the physical dimensions of Jerome "Curly" Howard. The studio is zeroing in on another Oscar-winner, Benicio del Toro, to play Moe.<28>

They never fail to get me laughing.

I now have this "thesis" about how the Republican Party is acting like Wile E. Coyote and Obama is the Roadrunner. Every time I think about the comparison I burst into giggles.

sophomoric, frat-boy humor, but aimed at a much lower age group, the Stooges are unfit to grace the same screen as the Marx Brothers.

Some say it requires early exposure to appreciate the Stooges' oeuvre, and since my mother forbade me watching them when I was younger I'll never be able to grasp what supposedly makes them great. Others say it requires a Y chromosome. For me, their appeal is the same as that of Jerry Lewis, or Adam Sandler or Jim Carey when he's allowed free rein: I just don't get it.
