Does anyone really believe that Obama is going to select another wingnut to fill the seat of Justice Souter? Another Scalia? Another Thomas? Another Alito?

No Supreme Court justice turns out to be what the president who appointed him/her had in mind. But you can bet that no matter whom he selects, he/she will not be a wingnut.

I’m as certain of this as I was that George W. Bush would select the worst of the worst. And he did.

If you're experiencing shortness of breath, take a deep breath and relax. Barack Obama is one of the smartest president’s we've ever had. He’s not about to let the Republicans railroad him into picking another whack job.

The key word in his speech about a Supreme Court justice was “empathy.” And this is exactly the quality that his choice will have. There may be many things that Obama will have to compromise on. But this isn't one of them.
