NYT to raise prices- $2.00 for the weekday edition, $6.00 for the Sunday paper

Where I live, the Sunday paper is already $5.50 and the weekday ed is 1.75.

It sells very well at those prices. I expect it'll continue to sell at 2 @ 6.

Massive amount of debt and insufficient cash flow to pay for it when it comes due.

Creditors know newspapers are a dying business so they won't accept rolling over the debt nor will they want stock.

As debt due grows NYT will be forced into BK.
Unless there is a buyer I expect liquidation.

Like the internet. The money is in the advertising. Increase circulation, you increase advertising and revenue. I know advertisers are in tough positions, but decreasing their base isn't going to make them more attractive.

16. In Canada the Sunday Times is about $8.75 right now. People still buy it all the time.
