LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) — Miss California USA Carrie Prejean “breached her contract” by keeping semi-nude photos a secret and could be stripped of her beauty queen title, according to a state pageant spokesman.

Prejean said the photos — taken when she was a teenage model — were being used in a “vicious and mean-spirited” effort to silence her for “defending traditional marriage.”

The 21-year-old Miss USA contestant has been the center of controversy since she declared her opposition to same-sex marriage in a response to a question on the pageant stage last month.

“That answer, and my commitment to stand by my beliefs, has since resulted in attacks on me and my integrity as a woman,” Prejean said in a news release dated Tuesday. She finished as runner-up to Miss USA.

Her fate was being discussed in “closed-door meetings” Tuesday among California pageant officials, lawyers and representatives of Donald Trump, who owns the international competition, said Miss California USA spokesman Roger Neal.

I seem to recall though that there was a Miss USA winner a few years ago that hade nude photos or a drug or alcohol problem or some such thing and Trump let her keep the crown. 74. What astounds me is that the Miss USA organization PAID

for her to have implants (and poorly done, at that). So this was basically a business decision, a marketing tool. There are women who choose to have implants for all sorts of personal reasons, some I agree with, some I don't. But for the pageant organization to provide augmenting surgery for it's contestants is absolutely mind-boggling. They offer to pay for this (major) surgery not out of the goodness of their hearts, but to benefit them/the organization.

The first time I saw a clip of Ms. California, the first thing I noticed were those unnatural bubble like things on her chest. Maybe they were done so recently that they look like that, I don't know. Implant surgery doesn't always have to look ridiculous, but in this case, I don't think they look good.

I just heard Keith Olbermann say that he agrees with Ms. Prejean in that the publication of her topless (without showing anything). This may be the first time I disagree with Mr. Olbermann, because NO ONE could publish any photos of Ms. Prejean unless she had chosen to pose for such pictures.

It's interesting that the Miss CA pageant may disqualify her for the photos (but not for something like "performance enhancing" surgery) is pretty goofy...

I can't believe pageant organizations promote such serious physical alterations by providing the funding for major surgery. Do they offer nose jobs, liposuction, etc., too? I guess it doesn't matter what one looks like upon entering a contest - they'll transform you surgically, turning you out to fit their cookie-cutter-Barbie-doll standards of size/shape/appearance. ...I think there has to be a difference between "nude" and "semi-nude," especially when the latter merely means panties and arms covering your breasts in a photo taken from behind. What Miss Fundie did is not much different from about half the photos in lingerie catalogs.

I think we should at least admit that the ban on "semi-nude" photos is pretty ridiculous, as virtually any swimsuit photo would, by definition be "semi-nude." And don't they have a swimsuit competition in the pageant? Otherwise, all we're doing is cheering for the regulations just because they happen to impact a wingnut.
