GOP Civil War continues! Bunning vs McConnell round 3!
http://www.courier-journal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20090505/NEWS01/90505018&s=d&page=2#pluckcomments

The key point of the article is that Bunning is displeased with the lack of support from McConnell concerning his reelection run.
He said: “Do you realize that under our dynamic leadership of our leader, we have gone from 55 and probably to 40 (Senate seats) in two election cycles, and if the tea leaves that I read are correct, we will wind up with about 36 after this election cycle.
So if leadership means anything, it means you don’t lose … approximately 19 seats in three election cycles with good leadership.”

Damn. Bunning is NOT pulling punches. I would guess maybe 34 (w/ Stormy Davis beating Vitter).

I included the comments because I want to show that Kentucky rethigicans are NOT amused by either Senator.
The funniest part of the Bunning-McConnell mess is that McConnell engineered the GOP's rise to power in Kentucky and is the ONLY reason loony Bunning got re-elected (which Bunning openly and very emotionally acknowledged after winning), while Bunning was named one of America's 5 worst senators by Time Magazine (see http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1183986,00.html). The entire national GOP leadership wants Bunning to step down because otherwise he will most likely lose the seat to a Democrat, yet here is Bunning attacking McConnell for being selfish! Isn't it the very definition of selfish to take your party down with you rather than gracefully step aside so someone more capable can take over? I have never been a big fan of McConnell, but he has shown a tremendous amount of self-restraint and dignitiy in not rising to Bunning's bait. What an embarassment for our state Bunning has become!!

There were more comments but the webpage is trippin now so I can't get to them.

1. Bunning took too many line drives up'side the head.
It shows after all these years.

2. I'm rooting for loony tunes Bunning in this fight
He's probably toast anyway and easy pickings for a Dem if he runs again, but if he can stir up enough shit to take McLipless down with him how can that be anything but a plus?

3. BIngo
I heard Tweety discussing this earlier.

He's also right - Mitch the chinless has been in charge while they have lost all those seats.
