just a hunch, and yeah, I've never been able to stomach the guy, but I honestly believe he's so compromised by his switch and subsequent behavior, not to mention that he's made it clear that he's only interested in serving himself, that voters will have a very negative reaction to him come election day. If I were a PA dem, I'd be hard pressed to actually vote for him. How many PA dems will just stay home? How many will cast a third party vote?

We really need to primary that little fucker.

1. You can't win Pennsylvania with only...
Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, you need to win Alabama between them.

2. It all depends on if Ridge can get by the right wing nuts in the Republican primary.
Sadly, I think he can. And that does lose us the seat no matter who we run in the general. Ridge is very popular here among Republicans as well as Democrats. The Specter thing was a terrible move.

4. The rules of who can ...
vote in the Republican primary seem to make it very hard for any moderate to win the primary this time around. I do not think Ridge could do it.

6. Ridge was the secretary of Homeland Security, the republican primary voters will eat that shit up.

5. Ridge can do it.
Ridge can take the republican primary because although he is a moderate in policy the man headed Bush's Homeland Security department, which is the kind of resume (stain to us) that the T-zone is going to cream their pants over.

Ridge can win in the general because his positions are moderate enough to appeal to the suburban fence-sitters who remember him as a PA governor rather than some kind of Bush stooge and wouldn't hold his participation in the first half of the Bush administration (before things went sour for the Bushies) as a disqualification.

3. I think a lot of people F***ed up big time with this move.... Supposedly promising him...
the moon and the stars if he switched parties. This was the stupidest thing that has happened since January 20th. IMHO. I hope that Obama backs away from his support of Specter, and soon.
