anyone else in maryland
In Harford Co.? I'm kinda blown away by this really big storm passing through here tonight. I am in my basement, constantly the sump pump goes on and off,so it must be raining buckets out there. The thunder rattles the windows and it's so loud it drowns out my stereo, the flashes overwhelm the lamplight a bit, the wind is howling outside. Just incredible.

I wonder if all is ok out there. The lightning is really fierce tonight.Looks cool but it kinda makes me uneasy too.Usually storms make me happy. For some reason this one is giving me a kinda bad feeling.Dunno why.Maybe it's the ozone or some kind of charge in the air.
Glad I got circuit breaker plugs and protected outlets.. I be alone tonight with two tweaking cats. Oh geez they both can't fit on my lap but that's not stopping them from trying..Lulz...They both are full of static too.Their fur is tickling my nose and zapping my hand. damn..

1. About where in Harford Co?
You don't have to be exact but maybe the area. I am in Cecil and see/hear distant lightening/thunder. Wonder if you storm is heading my way. I have a few very unhappy 4 legged kids.

19. We did get some thunder and rain
but not too bad. Lost power for a while but odds are someone took out a pole. Not long after I ask where you were or I would of answered sooner. Least the sun came out a bit today.

Hope your sump pump kept up with things.

5. Hope I don't have to bail the basement.
I hate doing that.Standing ankle deep in water as lightning flashes everywhere, let's just say I bail that rainwater like I am on a sinking boat in shark infested waters!

3. Howard County here...
We're having some thunder & heavy rain, but it's not that bad here. I wonder if it passed to the north of me.

About 15 minutes ago the thunder calmed down, but just now I think we are getting another wave of storm coming,Thundering again and the sump pump is going berserk.

9. It is used to pump water out of a space, generally a basement.
LA probably doesn't have much use for them.

all that darkest red part in the doppler image is passing right over my neighborhood.Shhhiiit! Glad I am in the basement.Didn't hear any limbs or debris nailing the stupid picture window in the livingroom...yet..Lulz..

Some silly weather jokes..

Top 10 reasons the satellite picture isn't working:

#10. During the flood, water got into the satellite.
#9. During the flood, water got into the satellite receiver.
#8. So much rain fell during the flood, the planet shifted.
#7. The picture is fine, its the planet that's messed up.
#6. The high winds are blowing the clouds REALLY REALLY HARD.
#5. Its finally happened, but not to California (as had been predicted): The East Coast has fallen into the ocean.
(haha feels like it's gonna fall ,Tonight!)

#4. California politics have shifted to the center (of the country).
#3. The Peso has fallen so low that Mexico is at the bottom of the ocean.
#2. When it flooded, the satellite ended up being washed. Now the satellite's on "spin cycle".
#1. The satellite has to spin all the time in order to make the picture, and its dizzy.

One summer evening during a violent thunderstorm a mother was tucking her small boy into bed. She was about to turn off the light when he asked with a tremor in his voice, "Mommy, will you sleep with me tonight?" The mother smiled and gave him a reassuring hug. "I can't dear," she said. "I have to sleep in Daddy's room."
A long silence was broken at last by a shaken little voice saying, "The big sissy."

Don't knock the weather, nine-tenths of the people couldn't start a conversation if it didn't change once in a while.

16. seems to passed by now
Thanks to all of you . I was getting a little creeped out alone down here. I had a bucket ready, prepared to bail out the stepwell if the pump couldn't pump fast enough to keep the water from coming in the door down here.I couldn't sleep anyway with the racket of the storm ,cats clinging to me,and the pump rattling all night! I think I may get offline and crash it's almost 4 am.I'm an insomniac anyway,Don't have to get up early tomorrow(phew)..

Hope whoever this storm moves over next that it has spent it's worst before it gets to you!

11. I'm in Fairfax County, VA and had to get up now (2 am) to run an auxiliary
pump to pump out some basement areaways. An ungodly amount of water came down tonight. Haven't had the lightning though.
