The Earth is actually 56 years old.
Everything has been placed here by the Almighty in order to make it appear that I have a heritage, a history which existed prior to my Creation, and I am certain, from my faith in God, that nothing existed before my entry into this world in a wondrous burst of light.

The fact that there are people who claim to have preceded me, that there are buildings, roads, artifacts, photographs, films, and more only proves the incredible complexity of God's arrangements in order to promote my personal religion of PCInternism.

Some may call this "narcissism in the extreme", I call it my "religion".

:sarcasm: for those who are wondering...
there are always one or two lately.

1. That makes it a Baby Boomer

Based on what I've read here tonight, it's therefore all the Earth's fault that we're where we are today.

4. Eh, you've never lived in the deep South I suspect..
People down here talk about their religion constantly, the second question you get after "what do you do for a living" is "what church do you go to"..

5. It's funny:
I happen to be a somewhat observant Jew, who takes religion very seriously and enjoys debating the merits and demerits of the faith. I belive in a higher order of things, the term 'God' being man-made, but I feel that there is much more to this Universe than we understand. I was a Flatland/Sphereland devotee.

I just don't 'get' this ridiculousness: the Babylonian artifacts purloined during the Iraq War were known to have ancestry over 10000 years and we can trace the existence of several most specifically all the way back - those in temples, etc..

6. The question I have for most people that believe in this 10,000 yr rule
If there is a supreme being, and he is indeed the creator of the earth and all there is including the universe,,, who said that his measure of time is the same as ours,,if they actually read the Bible,, it says that 10,000 yrs to God "is as the blink of an eye",,,that is not based on a Rolex..

15. Actually the six thousand year thing is not really in the Bible directly..
It was calculated long ago by some fanatical priest from the genealogy of Abraham, IIRC.

10. Bwahaha...
I wish...

Remember the scene in the film with Bruce Willis and Matthew Perry the dentist? At one point Perry stops his car and bangs his head agaisnt the steering wheel.

That's I on a daily basis...figuratively of course.

13. This reminds me of a "Calvin and Hobbes" cartoon...
...where Calvin was saying that everything in history that had ever been done, all the wars fought, all the loves and lives and everything, all happened solely to produce him.

Damn, I miss that kid.

:(

14. Wot do you mean, the Earth existed 56 years ago!
I didn't see it, so it can't have existed!

Your estimate is 10 years too high!
