Major League Baseball is expected to announce Thursday that Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Manny Ramirez has tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs and will be suspended for 50 games, The Los Angeles Times is reporting.

There's million of dollars spent on players, no one really cares if they take these drugs, and they clearly have an impact on player performance. The question really is why do fans pretend to be outraged by this stuff when the players themselves clearly don't care and it's their health that is at risk? Got me.

16. MLB not serious

Once again the MLB showed they aren't serious about performance-enhancing drugs. Manny will be nicely rested for the playoffs. If they were serious, he'd be out for a year or at least the 50 game suspension would start 30 games before the end of the season. MLB should go ahead and say anything's ok with them (law enforcement can deal with legal issues.)

If MLB just came out and said "everyone is likely doing it, we can't control it, so it's allowed", that may actually make the player's union voluntarily do something like test everyone and publish results. There are a lot of players unhappy that they are lumped in with the users who are likely to get more vocal if MLB explicilty states that most of them are probably using.
