Middletown (WTNH) - A widely circulated photo is not an image of the man wanted in connection with the deadly shooting at Wesleyan University, police said Thursday.

Several local and national news organizations and web sites ran a photo of a man wearing glasses in front of a blue background, and identified the man as Stephen Morgan.

"There is a photograph that is being circulated and aired of a suspect with glasses and a blue background. This photograph was not released by this agency and is NOT our suspect," Middletown police Lt. P. Liseo wrote in an e-mail to News Channel 8 and other television stations.

Police released an accurate photo of the suspect, taken in May of 2007. It is shown on the left.

"It should be noted that Mr. Morgan was last seen with thicker facial hair than is depicted in the photo, and had shoulder length hair in the back, with sparse hair coverage on top," Lt. Liseo wrote.

1. I heard this last night on my local news. I go to Middletown all the time.

They have a great children's museum there that my kids love.
Very sad for this young woman. I heard he was harassing her in Colorado before she came to Connecticut.
I hope they catch this guy now that they have the right photo out there.

Saw a report on Fox local news the other night and they sounded scared and shaken up. I went to CCSU in the mid to late 1990's and we had someone on campus who threatened someone else with a gun but never a shooting. Just terrible.

5. Very creepy. I wonder where he could be, if he is still in CT or he fled the state.

Apparently he was milling around the bookstore after he shot the young woman. Police thought he was a witness and let him go.
