Same place it was held last year, Houston, Texas. Oh yeah, but it wasn't about the oil, it was never about the oil.

1. How is an oil and gas summit not about oil?
And Houston seems appropriate as there's more than a few oil men and companies around here.

3. The War.
The Iraq War. So you're all about the U.S. empire plundering the world for natural resources now?

4. I know what you're talking about. But what's the beef? They're
having a summit, in Houston, and apparently they've had them there before.

The world won't stop because we don't agree.

7. Maybe having it in Iraq would be a better idea?
Considering it's "their" oil and their sovereign issue. Or I guess Iraq is the 51st state so it's all good.

6. I'm gonna have to agree with Babylonsister
I understand the point you were making but what does it matter that it's being held in Houston? For any oil and gas summit to be held anywhere else is kind of silly.

8. Well, considering it's an Iraqi issue.
Considering the Iraqi's probably have more expertise in Iraqi oilfield operations than say a bunch of oil and security contractors in Houston maybe having it in Iraq would be a better idea. But let's face it, the issue really isn't "Iraqi oilfield operations" the issue is "Iraqi oilfield operations under U.S. control".

9. Mm, and that is just what BigTexasOil wants people to think is my guess...
The image that comes into my mind is one of g.w. bush, Gen. Franks, schmoochy monarchs et al just a tabacky-chaw-spit and stone's throw from each other there in Texas after shoveling mountains of no-bid cronies past Abu Ghraib while in the other direction they've dragged their corpse to a BBQ where they'll chop it on the dotted line 'who shot JR?' style ;)

12. Yesiree, those same energy meetings where they divide up Iraq's oil BEFORE 9/11.
Edited on Thu May-07-09 05:47 PM by Raster
"How's the new energy policy coming, Dick?"

"Fine. We gonna need a Pearl Harbor-type event to galvanize public support for stealing Iraq's oil."

How is the new Pearl Harbor-type event shaking out, Dick?"

"Oh you guys are just going to love this: 15 Saudis with box cutters walk into an airport..."
