OK, here's who I feel so much sympathy for right now: CATE Edwards.
Her idolized older brother was killed in a car crash when she was probably middle school aged.
Her mother has terminal breast cancer.
She campaigned her butt off for her father, who turned out to have been screwing around on her mother, and of course, lying to her (Cate) as well, no doubt.
Her parents' marriage is in a shaky place, and in a public way all the details come out.
She may well have a half-sibling by her father's mistress.

Hang in there, Cate.

4. I think so, too. She's a good person with strong parents, whatever
his failings.

I'm not walking in her moccasins.

7. Clinton/Edwards '28...
...we knew how to act when our dads fooled around. We'll know how to run the country!

Seriously, she may have a political future if she wants one. NC has certainly been good to woman Democrats lately.

5. John Edwards...
...a bery intelligent man with great potential who threw it all away because he couldn't control his dingus. I never saw him as a President, but I did see him as a possible AG or Supreme Court Justice. Not Now, sure as hell!

I'd love to know why some think that we, meaning those of us who would NEVER cheat on their spouse, are wrong & archaic?

My wife knows that I notice cute girls in their bikinis at the beach. She also knows that I only peek, not ogle. She also knows that she is the ONLY woman in the world for me.

How Edwards can cheat on a lady like Elizabeth I will never know.

PEACE!

6. Oh, the poor girl.
I really feel for her - I know she's tough and smart and will be OK, but wow, that's too much for anyone to have to deal with, and none of it any of her fault or anything she can do anything about.

it's a mercy that the littler ones are too young to really understand what's going on, but Cate must be feeling the full brunt of it.

8. I have better things to do than waste sympathy on a member of a priviledged family.

15. If she is, the DU sure ain't helping.
A couple have a tough problem when one is found cheating. If they attempt to reconcile, it takes a lot of effort to rebuild trust and "get naked" about the mistakes. That not only takes strength and resolve on both their parts, it takes some support from family and friends. For the Edwards, it's an even more difficult process ... but it seems they're choosing to make the effort. I doubt it's done with naivete.

17. Yes, I've been thinking of her, too
This is heartbreaking for all of the children involved, even if its in the future reading some book or watching a video, but Cate is the one who can't escape into childhood things right now.
