Has spring sprung where you are?

I'm in Texas and can hear cicadas, bull frogs, and crickets outside. This is really late here, but it's nice.

It started getting warm (hot) this week. The A/C is on probably til October/November. :(

Indeed it has!

My beautiful jacaranda tree is now blooming and looks more wonderful every day!

The mockingbirds have stopped singing and I hope that means they have all paired off and are busy making babies...

I hear the sounds of people out in their yards, doing the pruning and mowing...

And in the distance, I hear the roar of Los Angeles, telling me to come out and play!

I can hear all these things because my windows are open...

Yes, it's spring!

14. My heat clicked on this morning...

I don't think we'll get warm until August....They say there may be sun this weekend. After 24 years here this is the first one that the rain got me.....

but the Rhododendrons are in blooming!

We have a resident goldfinch at our feeders, among the regulars.

Some kind of small black birds have babies chirping already in an old maple stump.

The forsythia's yellow blooms have long faded and a green spring jacket replaced them.

We have peas 12 inches up their poles.

I worked in the garden with an umbrella yesterday. heh heh heh


Spring is dripping wet in Seattle, but it is spring.

With just a couple days of sun we will be amazed!

5. Spring, nothing. We've already hit summer.

I can't remember an April/May this hot and dry (Florida).

6. My dad in Ft. Meyers was telling me about the Everglades, and they

are burning up. Big drought in the south of FL. Maybe that's why that bear was in Ft. Meyers. This is all over FL?

9. Levy County and south are under severe drought warnings.

As in "worst in the country right now" severe. South of Levy meaning the southern 3/4 of the state.

7. It sprung about a week ago and lasted maybe three days.

Now the rains have stopped the grass is still green for another week or two and the temperatures have climbed into the high 80's.

I can hear the frogs down by the creek which has already pretty much dried up for the summer. At night I can hear the coyotes off in the distance.

I'll be bringing in hay for the horses by mid June. Not as early as last summer but definitely a lot earlier than I used to.

No rattlesnakes yet. When I see one I'll know it really is summer.

11. The birds are waking me up early every morning.

A sure sign of Spring.

The garden is most certainly alive and loving the sun. A 2 year old blueberry bush I thought was dead is putting out beautiful pink and blue buds and bright green leaves. :)

Early Spring is my favorite time of the year.

12. Here in NY, we had some summer-like weather for a while, but it has RAINED for the past WEEK!

I don't think I've ever been so depressed, lethargic and basically useless. I guess I know for SURE now I'd never move to the Pacific Northwest! I don't know how the Seattle-ites stay sane!

13. The hummers have been back around for a few weeks already.

Trees are just about in full-green now, and it's feeling more like Summer than spring.

15. Vines with bunches of purple flowers have appeared outside my window.

I have no idea where they blew in from. At my mom's we had to build an arbor for the grapes that blew in one day and decided to stay. That was the year of grape pies.

19. Here in western WI the trees are leafing out as they usually do the first week of May.

The flowering crabapple trees are blooming. The morning temps are still in the 50s, getting up to around the low 70s during the day. It smells like spring.

20. It took until the last weekend in April, but it's finally in Cleveland.

Prior to that, I must say we didn't have as terrible or depressing a late winter as usual. I think it snowed only twice in all of March, which is rare. But the weather wasn't very warm or inviting, just kind of chilly, dull and gray. The trees stayed in that reddish-gray budded-but-not-leafed stage for a long time.

The last weekend of April, we had temps in the 80s, and that did it. The spring blossoms (daffodils, tulips, flowering bushes and trees) were finally joined by the leafing of the leafy trees. I love that wonderful pale almost fluorescent green of the new leaves. And the other thing that came up--that signifies the arrival of spring for sure--was the dandelions.

The temps haven't stayed that high; they've wavered between there and the 50s. But there's been enough warmth to pop the lilacs, too, without so much that they burned out almost as soon as they appeared. I do love lilac season! And the past two days have been sunny, even though rain was predicted.
