Why Arianna and Huffington Post drives me crazy!
Dowd seems to believe that he can play a role in destroying families with an immoral war and then simply earn forgiveness by saying, "I'm sorry." Through two elections, he brought polling science, strategic thinking, and political advantage to a president determined to accumulate executive power by marginalizing the constitution, and now Dowd thinks expressing sensitivity and remorse in an interview with a newspaper will absolve him of his sins. It does not. And he ought not be trusted. He showed poor judgment by joining Bush and he is equally wrongheaded with his latest public admissions.

Of course, anyone paying attention knows Arianna was one of the shrillest, meanest anti-Clinton voices out there. So, she divorces her rich husband (getting lots of money I'm told) and gets money from someone else to start a web page where she allows people to bash the likes of Dowd.

What's the difference between Huffington and Dowd? How dare Arianna's "place" trash Dowd for switching sides.

I don't think Dowd expects all to be forgiven. If he does, he is mistaken. But I admire anyone who is willing to say: "I was wrong". If we don't allow that, it will make the GOP nut cases hold on harder. We should welcome them but keep an eye on them.

1. It's OK for Headlines
but the 3rd rate software and endless supply
of moranic Trolls drove me away from clicking
anything but "quick read".

Oh, it's not just Dowd who got trashed...
it's most any right-of-idiotic republic candidate.

Thank dog for DU!

2. The difference between Huffington and Dowd...
...is that Huffington has actually worked to atone for her past sins. I would say that by now she's done far more for "our" side than she ever did for "theirs."

4. well, why not give him a shot?
we don't know what Dowd will do next. Why trash him now and turn him against the ones who might welcome him?

And what has Arianna done? Yeah, she has a web site some fat cat funded. Big deal. Everytime she gets on TV where she has a potentially bigger audience, she trashes dems. Last time it was, I'm not kidding you, 5 weeks after the dems took congress and she was bitching that we hadn't ended the war yet.

Pleeeeeze. I've never heard her say ahything thoughtful. If you want to read a "former" republican who is thoughtful read Sullivan. He trashes the GOP and provides insight to why they are wrong.

6. Not up to us to "give" him a shot.
He'll either work to undo his past wrongs, or he'll prove an opportunistic hack. We know which behavior to expect from a Bushie. If he can't take his "trashing," well, we shouldn't expect any other form of courage to manifest within him. I wonder what he'll be doing for a living a year from now?

As for Arianna's criticism, The Dems must expect to be chastised by the far Left. As the party in power, they own the war, too, and people are dying in Iraq just as fast as they did last year.

3. Let him do something real to show he's not just . .
. . a scam artist that would switch to whatever side seemed to offer the most at the time. Let him write a book exposing the crap the went on with his involvement and then he can start a blog to continue to expose corruption and dirty tricks in the future. Let him do what David Brock did or let him go to work for Brock and prove what he says.

David did the honorable thing and deserves respect IMO.

5. I couldn't agree with you more. I send Media Matters $50 every month.
And I read Sullivan everyday. He is another one who has done something. Maybe I'm too hard on Huffington but don't see what she has done. She started a blog (with someone else's money) but I don't see that as a great accomplishment unless that blog is doing something positive (like Josh or Brock or Sully).

IMHO.

I'm not willing to forgive Dowd but I'm not going to trash him. He might provide us with some insight into why idiots buy into the likes of Bush so we can expose it.

8. One thing to know about Dowd's "Conversion":
He has a son shipping out to Iraq.

Coincidence?

9. Well for one thing Dowd was a Democrat and switched sides and sold out other Dems.
Arainna was a right wing shill that saw the light and switched sides and has been highly vocal about what the GOP has been doing wrong. Dowd simply can not be trusted. He goes which ever way the wind blows him. I would not be a bit surprised if he were to switch back to the GOP if they were to win in '08. arianna will not switch back because she believes in what she now is doing..She switched when the GOP was holding all the cards which really took some courage IMO.
