They shot to a split screen with Tamron Hall, Contessa Brewer, and David Shuster. Shuster said "Excuse me, can I just vomit right now? This stands for everything that is wrong about America. Our culture. The most superficial thing in the United States. The runner up was on the Today show saying that they were bound by contract about semi-nude pictures, and this just sends the message that it's ok to lie. Trump kept saying that Ms USA is for tough questions. Except the tough questions that HE got that he decided were too hard for Ms California to answer!" Contessa interrupted that this isn't THE most superficial thing, since we have reality shows, and that Ms California is the one who won since they are talking about her. She said that it can be a good jumping off point to discuss gay marriage. Tamron, who had been mediating , broke and said "Sorry, it's not a good jumping off point" and Shuster said "If you need this as a jumping off point about gay marriage conversation, I suggest you jump off a cliff." I left some stuff out, but that's some of it.

IMO Shuster runs rings around Olbermann, Maddow and Schultz and it's a joke that MSNBC opted to put Ed's show in what's normally a news-hour slot vs. after or in the middle of Olbermann's and Maddows.

For my take, cable networks should run news/panel discussion shows during the 5 to 7 / 8 p.m. slots.

Opinion/Commentary shows like Olbermann, Maddow, Schultz and the FOX equivalents belong during regular prime time hours.

For my money, Shuster is one of the better news reporters on right now. He's allows himself some outrage but tends to keep his personal politics out of it and from watching him on 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue (when it was on) he knows how to moderate a panel discussion and makes sure each side gets their say.

I still remember when he and Scarborough got into a pissing match during one of the conventions and he pretty much served Joe's ass back to him on a platter.

They are supposedly giving him a show with Tamron, but I haven't heard anything about it recently. He basically does 11-1 with other anchors and fills in as needed. He is hosting Hardball tonight. He posted some stuff about today on his Twitter.

Talking head who tried to bring Pelosi into the torture debate. He said (roughly) "Let me stop you right there! I know it's the knew favorite repub talking point trying to create some equivalency between Nancy Pelosi and Dick Cheney on waterboarding, but let's get real." He went on to say Pelosi was briefed once and not told that waterboarding was being used and that Bush, Cheney and Rumsfield were the ones who authorized torture, not the Democrats.
