If Rove had set this up himself, it couldn't have worked more beautifully. People may be for or against marriage equality, but it isn't a priority issue for the vast majority. What they see is a an attractive young woman vs a trollish gossip monger, and the beauty queen is going to win that one every time. Aided and abetted by talk show host Michelangelo Signorile and the cast of DU, none of whom can let this go. Now we're doing everything we can to dig up incriminating pictures of her (and none I've seen are even that racy.) It all just makes her look more sympathetic.

Nobody knew who Carrie Prejean was a month ago. The best thing to do would have been to greet her statements with a collective yawn. Now, like it or not, she's somebody, and her opinions matter--thanks, in no small measure, to us.
