The national news doesn't seem to care much about what goes on in Alaska unless it has something to do with EssPee, but an early breakup on the Yukon and Kuskokwim Rivers, caused by a very rapid spring thaw, has devastated villages across a very wide swath of the state, most particularly Eagle which essentially has been crushed by ice blocks the size of houses and then washed away.

And if you can stand it, here is a video of EssPee herself surveying the damage and touting the "self-sufficiency" of the residents of Eagle. She makes me gag.
