Lest we forget- Hackworth and the torture tapes.
Edited on Tue May-12-09 03:31 PM by BeHereNow
Don't EVER, EVER, EVER try to put forth on DU the notion that our
"congress" is not complicent in the cover up again.
That is all.
Hackworth is the one who passed the evidence to Sy Hersh.
How soon we forget.
Shame. On all of us for having the attention span of gnats.

2. More on Hack, for those who choose to remain in the dark....
http://www.greatestjeneration.com/archives/001861.php

HACK was the one who contacted Hersh.

Notice how he died shortly after?

Sorry, no tinfoil here, just shades of the BFEE.

7. Yes, his death was very suspicious.
Btw, did you read the commentary on the link you provided? Here's a sample of how delusional the writer is (the paragraphs were so bunched together, I spaced between them for easier reading; left the grammar errors in, though):

Attacks from the Left on our war effort, on President Bush and his Administration, and on America itself all come from the now AARP-aged "Flower children" and "people of conscience" who either protested the Vietnam War in a big way or were active in the bloodless coup that brought President Nixon down called Watergate or both: Robert McNamara, John Dean, Bob Woodward, Jane Fonda, Col. Hackworth, John Kerry, Ramsey Clark, Seymour Hersh--all blasts from the past circa the "Summer of Love."

If these people have a problem with this country and what she stands for, why don't they shut up and leave for one that suits them better...like North Korea or China?

I, for one, have had it with them.

And they've yanked my chain for the last time!

I suppose some of our soldiers guarding POWs in Iraq were out of line in their treatment of those criminals, but it wouldn't surprise me one bit if the lion's share of this scandal were manufactured purposefully to discredit the WOT, President Bush and SecDef Rumsfeld.

3. I can assure you that 99% of the people on DU have NO idea who he was
or how he was instrumental in getting the evidence to Hersh.
I'll bet they can tell you what kind of shoes Michelle bought this week though.
Fek it--

9. before Bush started his illegal war , i used to read Col Hackworth on Veterans For Peace web site
Edited on Tue May-12-09 09:40 PM by flyarm
and Hackworth's own web site or one he posted on almost daily..Thank you for reminding people of that wonderful man..he tried to stop this damn war..and he was a true hero of mine..( and still is) Also remember the CIA intelligence officers who joined together and wrote letters to Bush and congress..they set up press conferences and no one covered them on MSM..

You are damn right, all in congress are complicit..so many of us wrote letters, and emails and made phone calls in the hundreds of thousands with the truth..many of us went to washington and the capitol to demand congress people pay attention to the damn truth....and we were ignored..hell i ran a group that we flooded CBS's email after 6pm on Sunday nights with thousands of emails, because i knew an insider who knew when the person in charge of the email dept went off duty!!

But congress aren't the only ones complicit..the media is complicit and so are many of the American people..if i could know the damn truth and find the truth, so could anyone else.

How many of us were banished by family memebers for telling the truth..and friends..hell how many friends did we give up or that gave up on us beause we were telling the truth???????

I can't tell you how many rooms i walked into and eyes would roll..or it was preplanned that no one would bring up politics or the war in front of me...because alot of Americans didn't want to know the damn truth.

Hell there were many dems that were ignorant..i used to go to dem clubs and meetings around my state and do speeches of what was going on to astonishment by so many dems..i would run off articles by foreign papers and Hackworth and Honest CIA people and soldiers for peace and hand them out at meetings of dems..

I started large internet groups and we would post info all over the internet ..educating people to the damn lies of the Bush administration..some of those people are today posters at Du..

We would post the info daily of what Hackworth and Sy Hersh were telling the American people..all of which the MSM and congress were ignoring deliberately!

So many of the truth tellers were called so many nasty names..on a daily and sometimes minute by minute basis..we had our computers hacked..and got shut down and lost all our files by AOL, and yahoo and serveral other providers.

There are many Hero's that tried to get the truth out..and Col.Hackworth was one great hero who deid having told the truth, swimming against the tide.

I am sorry to say , i am seeing the same blind faith today..we may have learned some , but not enough, because the same patterns are being repeated today.

Bad if the other guy is doing it..aok if it is our folks doing it.

Col Hackworth and many who spoke out are true hero's.

Many of the hero's died trying to tell the American people the truth..some nafariously.

Some in plane crashes, some in car crashes, some with cancers, some falling from buildings..

It is a shame how little we sometimes learn.

Please we need to keep this info and the real heros up front ..seems to me there are people deliberately trying to muddy the waters..today even..some people were too young and those we need to educate...like those before us.

We need to be vigilant always ..and we need to remember who the truth tellers are and were..like the incredible Sy Hersh..who was telling the truth during Vietnam ..and today..some won't like his truth ,,but tough shit..you will get it like it is from Sy..the man who exposed MyLai..and who is a Pulitzer Prize winner for his truth!

Thanks BeHereNow for reminding us all of Col Hackworth..i truely miss him!
