Strong taste of irony in my morning coffee...

We sent them over there so that they could defend us here.

Now we must defend them here for things that were done over there,

because they are in the midst of a military mission that must be protected

from the consequences of our own laws.

2. Military "Intelligence"
My favorite is that somehow since we didn't get attacked again after 9/11, then somehow the booosh regime "kept us safe". It's as if that attack didn't happen on their watch, that they fell asleep on the intel and hellbent on playing cowboys. It's ok to torture as long as its our people doing it cause somehow we only torture when it's "right". Sheesh.

I'm torn about the photo matter. I do want those pictures made part of the public record of the attrocities committed by the boooosh regime. It's also a symtom of problems within the military...both exhausted and demoralized by the abuses of the past several years and an attempt to either protect what's left or to avoid the Clinton problem of alienating them.

Eventually those pictures will come out...and President Obama has blown a chance to get ahead of this story...to show there is a real change. No matter what his "best intentions" here, the truth will out...the crimes of the booooosh regime can't be papered over or justified.

4. Yeah, the irony is as bitter as it gets and we saw it coming
Trapped by the ignorant hubris of the small minded Bush regime. His administration really needs a name to make it stand out as the aberration it is. If McCarthy can have an era named after him for his un-American witch hunts, then the Bush era should have it's own name. 'The Bush Regime' is pretty apt.

We will probably be stuck in Pakistan/Afghanistan for decades and like flies on fly paper, unable to extricate ourselves.
