Are the people who 'really run the world' meeting this weekend?

From today until May 17, approximately 150 of the most influential members of the world's elite will be meeting behind closed doors at a hotel in Greece. They are called the Bilderberg Group or the "Bilderbergers," and you have probably never heard of them.

The group, co-founded by Prince Bernard of the Netherlands, has been meeting in secret every year since 1954. This year, says the British broadsheet The Times, they are meeting at the Nafsika Astir Palace in Vouliagmeni.

The individuals at the meeting come from such power houses as Google and the Wall Street Journal, the U.S. Senate and European royalty. Governments, the banking industry, big oil, media and even the world of academia are amongst the Bilderberg ranks.

4. Well, sort of, in a way....

They can control content on the internet now can't they? The way Yahoo did. Do a "google" search and if they don't want you to find it, you don't find it. The new version of "out of sight, out of mind."

The Bilderbergers to be honest are not some sinister group but merely a group of various interests who meet once a year to decide policy and try to keep things running in some semblance of order. Which is necessary even though most of us would like to think it's not. Human beings, like Wall Street, really don't do well with "self-regulation."

The problem is some of the "invitees" have no concept of order and instead create disorder. Usually quite haplessly. Usually because they're totally clueless. Usually the Republican politicians from the United States. And some of the Wall Street types. And, yes, some Democratic politicians as well.

Eventually the Bilderbergers will cull their own herd and rid itself of the hapless. And the occasionally truly helpless. And there will be fewer Republican politicians and fewer Wall Street types. And fewer Democratic politicians as well. The Republican and Democratic stimuluses haven't done much to convince anyone that the United States can lead everyone out of the abyss it plunged everyone into.

The problem is not the Bilderbergers. It's these "economic summits" that are designed to give the United States the advantage in setting economic policy for everyone else. Which everyone else is finally beginning to realize has been a recipe for disaster.
