2. No - but I still have hope |
|
I must...I keep fighting for accountability. I kick myself for having that hope. Tell myself I'm an idiot for hoping....but I can't deny it's there.

When it comes to American politics, until and unless the two-party system is eliminated and money is no longer equated with free speech, I don't believe in hope or in change.

Bush/Cheney level? No. I think Dick will be long dead and gone, and Bush will have the plausible deniability defense..just like Ronny Reagan.

5. I don't think anyone higher level than maybe another token Scooter Libby type |
|
will ever even be criticized officially. I also think there will be more Lynndie England-like grunts thrown in the brig. By and large, I think a congressional hearing or blue-ribbon panel will issue some sort of whitewash document and that will be the end of it.

if half of the American people are okey-dokey with torture, and the other half are too busy to make a stink..what's the point? Keep doing the same thing, keep getting the same results. Our government can't help but do what it does. It's too damn easy for them. Next..

Remember Susan B. and Harriet Stowe, Carrie Nation and other Donna Quixotes of our amazing history. Failure is IMPOSSIBLE! And Karma is a bitch.

8. If by "held accountable" you mean "excoriated in the court of public opinion"--why, certainly. |
|
If you mean "tossed in jail and the key thrown away" that's a less likely proposition.

13. He shows no inclination so far to honor the law in this matter. |
|
He has adopted every bush era argument (except that he says he has stopped using torture) and they expressly rejected the authority of international courts.

14. And he refers to a "few bad apples," i.e., let the grunts go to jail |
|
while letting the people that gave the orders walk free.
