How is it that a locked thread is used to raise money?
Interesting conflict between making money and controversy that must be squelched.

1. say what? grovelbot showed up before your thread was locked |
|
and conflict has zip all to do with when he shows up. your post is silly, passive agressive nonsense.

The grovelbot is obviously programmed to post in all threads - I think I see him eventually in all the ones that I read.

7. I suspect Grovelbot seeks out threads that are above 35 replies |
|
I could be wrongm, it may be random.
Empricial investigation will help reveal the algorithm behind grovelbots presence.

Doesn't seem to be much of a mystery.

9. That doesn't seem quite right. |
|
Not that I am suggesting some other low 30's number. Maybe every 33 reply in the overall que?

10. I just checked seven threads at random with more than 33 posts |
|
Grovelbot was #33 in all of them.

13. It is barely possible, with asynchronous posting behavior and poor semaphore tools, ... |
|
... that Grovelbot could be edged out and put in the 34th position, but it's an embed, so it'd be rare.
The programming logic required to achieve single-threading when interrupts are (as normal) enabled gets quite arcane. It involves such imperfect tools as test-and-set logic and semaphores. Only code at the O/S level with access to hardware interrupt control can realistically enqueue itself predictably. (It's the kind of systems software code I was once a 'guru' in designing. Fun stuff.)
