13. Homophobic national policy.
Does there have to be a specific news article from today for that to be an acceptable topic of conversation? Or can we talk about the denial of civil rights without some cable news nitwit bringing it up first?

14. My preference is not to jump into a discussion without knowing the context.
But that's just me. :)

4. I'll agree with civil unions for same sex couples
When everyone in the country has to have a civil union to access the benefits of marriage....whether or not they have a religious ceremoney called marriage, and when those unions confer all the benefits available to religiously married people.

7. Absolutely right. When they are for Everyone, not just us
then they will be acceptable. Separate will never be equal, and will never be acceptable.

11. Yes, for those of us who aren't into superstitious rites
A civil union is just fine. My hubby and I have been in a civil union since 1977. No ceremony, no religion, just the bare legal minimum to call ourselves a couple. But simply because we are hetereo, we get all those extra benefits of marriage, just the same as the people who blow thousands and get some religion to recognize their marriage.

It is not right that everyone who wants to commit to the one they love cannot do so in this country.

5. Thank you very sincerely.
:loveya:

We're going to need a lot of loud, stubborn help to force this onto the public agenda to make our equal rights happen. We'll be very happy to have you here with us. :)

9. Gay people can serve as long as they are not honest with the military about the issue. As soon as...
they become honest about their gayness then they are forced out of the service. Does that make any sense at all? A gay person is perfectly allowed to serve and become part of a unit as long as he lies about being gay! Can someone explain to me the logic here? I remember when being gay was a way out of serving in the 60's and 70's when people did not want to serve during the conflict in Vietnam. But people would not use that out for fear that they would have to demonstrate being gay and they were afraid of being labeled gay. But now all you have to do is point a finger at yourself while in the company of another military person and whisper "gay." They should change that slogan to - Be All That You Can be - Except Gay and Honest. I still don't get it.
Fuck they have career military killing our own military in Iraq? That is crazy also. And it is OK for the military to lie to Pat Tillman's family about his death and require soldiers to keep their mouths shut to his family too. Crazy stuff. Just crazy.

18. I don't think gays should serve
And every homosexual in the armed forces should come out and force Obama's hand.

Why fight for a country that wants to make you a second class citizen?

Until it's legal and allowed, no homosexuals in the military.
